DVA Meeting - Sept 2010

 What a GREAT meeting last night at the Waterfront Studio's in Cape Town.  Our host was Richard from Waterfront Studio's who gave us an overview of their services and functions.

Next up was Jonathan Genis from Helimedia who gave a fascinating and awesome visual presentation on the aerial shooting of the recent world cup soccer.  Their company was contracted to do all the aerial shots prior and during all the games.  They used highly specialized equipment with skilled personel from as far as Australia.  This included a fleet of nine helicopters.  The footage shown was truly awesome and unique.  This rare insight of "behind the scenes" had members spellbound.

Dave Short of Digivision gave us a demo of the newest LED technology currently available.  This specific LED cost little more than R1000 plus VAT and will function effortlessly with six penlight batteries or a Panasonic or Sony camera battery.  The three pack bundle option cost R9000 plus VAT and comes complete with stands, batteries and soft carry case.

Danielle Nel our local highly qualified Apple and CS5 trainer, gave us a training session on CS5.  It is still amazing to most of us what this programme can do.
