The DVA Meeting on 31 May was a great success.

We had a great meeting tonight . We weren't a large crowd - just enough to be 'gesellig'! (That might have had something to do with the short notification - apologies! :-(

It was (and it wasn't!) the same Jacques Groenewald that gave us those interesting camera talks previously. I mean, it was the same generous-with-his-knowledge person on the inside, but on the outside he was a changed man - minus 35kg changed! He decided that filming is too stressful a job to tackle if you are unfit and thus embarked on a cycling campaign - an inspiration to all of us who enjoy food more than cycling!

Jacques brought a pole cam along and gave us a fascinating demonstration of it's capabilities. He had many a person drooling! But the good news is that should you need a pole cam, you can hire it for R1 500 a day and for another R1 500 you get Operator Jacques thrown in. If you see the angles you could achieve and the time and effort you could save on some shoots, R3 000 for the day is a snip!

We also watched a short on the Khoi Khoi lifestyle of yesteryear (Bushmen in those days) which Chris Oberholzer shot in Namibia 20 years ago - excellent stuff!

Well, Altus says we will have a meeting in August at the "Southern headquarters", so watch this space!

I'm off to catch some sun in Portugal on Thursday - however, I suspect we had a whole lot more sun here recently than they had in Europe, judging from the French Open! So hold thumbs for some sunshine!

Kind regards - till August
