| We
are frequently being asked by our clients what is the difference between
DVD-R and DVD+R disk?
The + and the – represent two competing formats, like Betamax and VHS. Both disks record the same amount of data (4.7GB) and there is no substantial difference in quality. Luckily most manufactures have realized that most consumers where confused by the different formats and most DVD Burners can now write both. Hopefully this clarifies all the confusion about these disks. We are often asked what is the difference between the DV and DVCAM. What does seem to confuse the situation is that DV tapes are capable of recording both DV and DVCAM. Both formats use the same codec so the picture quality is the same. The difference is in the speed that the tape runs through the camera or recorder. When you record in the DVCAM format, the tape travels faster, which makes it less prone to errors and dropout. |
